Artists/bands/producers can upload 2 versions of their song, one untagged and one tagged. They can use the tagged version for general streaming to the public and the untagged version for licensing and sales.
A "tagged beat" is a demo version of an instrumental that contains distinct audio watermarks that typically plays throughout the entire track. The purpose of producers tagging their instrumentals is to prevent piracy and to encourage serious recording artists to purchase a license.
The buyer can download a lossless WAV file, if noted here.
WAV files have a much better quality than MP3 files and to guarantee the best quality for you as a buyer I decided that WAV files are included in all license types that I offer.
A trackout file is an audio file that splits the track into all the different instruments.
With a trackout file you are able for example to change something in the song if you want to make it better for your needs. Your possibilities are unlimited.
A sales limit states how many copies of the resulting work can be sold royalty-free.
Say for example the sales limit is 5,000. That means the buyer can sell up to 5,000 CDs
or digital downloads without paying any royalty to the seller (producer).
If the buyer sells more units then the publishing split applies.
A paid streams limit states the number of paid streams of the resulting work that remain royalty-free.
This limit applies to paid streams on services like Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube.
Free streams like the ones on SoundClick do NOT count towards this limit.
If the buyer streams more paid units then the publishing split applies.
"Commercial use" defines in how many commercial settings the buyer can sell any resulting work.
Typical cases of commercial use might be albums, mixtapes, iTunes sales, SoundClick sales, shows, and so on.
If the seller for example leases 2 commercial uses, the buyer can use this to sell the audio on his/her album AND on iTunes.
This maxes out the 2 uses and he/she can't sell this song on any other platforms or settings.
"Unlimited commercial use" means the buyer can sell the resulting work in any way he/she wants as long as no other
restriction such as max distribution or explicit sync lisensing applies.
This split determines how any royalties of the resulting work are divided
between the producer (who sells the beat) and the buyer.
For example if the seller allows a publishing split of 100% to the buyer, then all royalties of the resulting work belong to the buyer.
Any copies sold below the stated 'sales limit' and any paid streams below the 'paid streams limit' are royalty-free.
The publishing split only applies to copies/streams above those limits.
"Sync" or "synchronization" licenses refer to when the seller grants the buyer the right to pair the music with audio-visual works (for example films, TV shows, and TV/radio advertisements).
If this applies, the seller has to be credited.
This usually happens in the song description or byline like "beat produced by [name of seller; in our case: beat produced by SadGlad Music]".
This determines how long the agreement is valid.
The term's starting date is the date the license has been purchased.
I personally prefer unlimited license durations to make you feel more comfortable as buyer. That's why the license duration is unlimited for all license types that I offer.
This means if you buy one license you get another X licenses for free. So if it states "Premium license:
buy 1 get 2 free" then you can place 3 songs in the shopping cart with a "Premium" license
and you just pay the price for one.
Discounts are applied automatically and only valid for purchases in the same shopping cart.
Exclusive licenses make the purchased track a "work for hire". In a work for hire agreement, the seller (producer) loses all rights to their beat,
including the copyright and the right to use the beat again for any purpose.
If, on the other hand, the grant of rights is a non-exclusive license, the producer keeps the copyright,
and retains the right to use it or make other deals.
Even in the case of an exclusive license deal, all other previously granted licenses remain valid until they expire.
